I hear that we may see some snowflakes in the air this week!
In reading this week, we will study the question: How do you express yourself? We will read about a famous children’s choir and discuss other ways children can express emotion. We will review sentence punctuation, and practice the spellings for long /u/. As well, we will continue to practice main idea and detail, and generate lists of antonyms for some of our vocabulary words. Next week in math we will wrap up our unit with a two day problem solving lesson in which we add multiple two digit numbers. The students will learn two different strategies and have the chance to use the one the most prefer. As well, we will take our end of the unit assessment. We have being a new unit of writing, focusing on “how to” stories. The children have chosen an area they are an expert in, and are writing a story that shares their expertise. Our topics range from how to use a slingshot to how to put on lipstick, and just about everything in between. I am excited to share this work with you. A few reminders for this week- No school for students on Tuesday, February 9th- Primary Election Day Valentine’s Day Party on Friday, February 12th – 1:15-2:00 (thank you for the many party donations J )
