                                                 Homework Help:
Homework is a new adventure in second grade.  It is important to set good homework routines from the start.  We have busy evenings, but setting these routines will help the children feel comfortable as they begin to complete regular homework.
Make sure your child has:
1.  A set time for homework
2.  A quiet place to work
3.  Encouragement from Mom and Dad!
Homework should take about 20 minutes per night.  If your child is struggling, check out the homework videos below.  I have created them for Unit 2, as a way to bridge the learning from school to home.

Hello Families,
At the beginning of the year Math homework can be confusing for some second grade students.  For Unit Two I will post a series of homework help videos.  These are meant for you and your child to watch together and serve as a bridge between what we are practicing in school, and what they are expected to do on their homework.  Homework should take about 20 minutes in total for 2nd grade.  Remember, that includes Math and Spelling.  Your child should also be reading TO and WITH you each night.  There are years of research that prove children who read at home for 20 minutes every night outperform their peers!
The videos won't be perfect, and I am okay with that.  It is important to continue to demonstrate that we all make mistakes-it is a powerful message when teaching growth mindset.  I hope they help serve as a bridge between home and school~
