Thank you for joining us at the Open House, Performance, and Halloween Party. It is always wonderful to share the school experience with you. I was so impressed with the student’s performance. They worked incredibly hard, and many told me they were a little nervous to get up on stage in front on their family. I think you never would have known, as they did such an amazing job. Thank you for your support and dedication to the many wonderful activities that make New Boston Central School an exceptional place to learn and grow! This week in the Wonders Program we will discuss, “How do animals survive?” This is a wonderful tie into our animal research project! We will work on making meaningful predictions, and discuss character, setting, and plot. In addition, we will review the definition of a noun and the correct way to spell plural nouns. Our spelling pattern this week will be long /o/ and short /o/. We will kick off our next unit of Mathematics next week. I was so impressed with the students’ performance on the Unit 2 Math assessment; we are making strong progress already! This week we will begin to look at subtraction strategies. Students will review fact families (the three numbers that can work together to make many number sentences- 8,2,10 can make 8+2=10 or 2+8=10 or 10-2=8 or 10-8=2). In addition, students will learn to think addition for subtraction (counting up strategy). We will learn one of my favorite games, Salute, this week as well. Some easy things you can continue to practice at home:
